Nurse navigators"We are often asked how we can stay positive when working with cancer patients. Our patients are the most important aspect of our job. We can learn so much from them, about life and the human spirit. That's the real journey."
—Gail Weeks, RN, BS, oncology nurse coordinator/educator
- Explain what your diagnosis means and what different treatment options involve.
- Ask your doctor any questions or concerns you may be reluctant to express.
- Help coordinate your care with surgery, radiation therapy, infusion services, insurance, social workers, clinical trials, nutrition, medications and other services.
Throughout your journey, you are always in charge of the paths you take and the decisions you make, but you can count on your nurse navigator to be an "angel at your side."
