About PazSalud
Mission
PeaceHealth is committed to utilizing the gifts of our health care system to improve the lives of Salvadorans who live in poverty. In our work and through our ongoing presence in El Salvador, PazSalud provides free health care for people who have very limited resources or options.
Vision
PazSalud (‘PeaceHealth’ in Spanish) envisions a world filled with healthy, happy people. We strive to improve the health of El Salvador, using as our guide the mission and values of PeaceHealth and of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace and we work with groups and individuals who are willing to join us in this endeavor. Meanwhile, we carry on the healing mission of Jesus Christ by promoting personal and community health, relieving pain and suffering, and treating each person in a loving and caring way.

We use as our guides the mission and values of PeaceHealth and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace (CSJP).

Our Founder and Staff
Sister Eleanor Gilmore
Sister Eleanor Gilmore was the founder and first Director of PeaceHealth's El Salvador Health Mission known as PazSalud; a program to which she brought the experience of her lifetime and her love for the people of El Salvador. Sr. Eleanor personified the PeaceHealth and CSJP missions by bringing the spirit of healing to the poor of El Salvador through her dedication to service and her commitment to health care equality.
Darren Streff
Darren Streff is PazSalud's Country Coordinator responsible for all aspects of the mission in El Salvador including preparations, patient follow-up, and ongoing liaison with our Salvadoran partners.
Sister Amalia Camacho
Sr. Amalia Camacho is PazSalud's Mission Liaison. She serves as the primary contact between PeaceHealth/PazSalud and the CJSP and is responsible for ensuring that the integrity and the values of the CSJP are reflected in all aspects of PazSalud’s work.
