Healthier caramelized baked bananas recipe

Here's a healthier spin on bananas Foster.

Deliciously caramelized bananas are perfect on ice cream or topped with whipped cream. Think bananas Foster, but healthier. Yum!

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 large bananas, sliced into ¼ inch pieces (or length wise)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: Chopped nuts of choice, ice cream, whipped topping, mini chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, peanut butter, crushed pineapple and/or sliced strawberries (like a banana split)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

Combine lemon juice, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a bowl. Place sliced bananas on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle sauce over bananas and bake for 10 to 15 minutes. Baking time depends on how cooked you like your bananas. Longer bake time will make them softer.
