Kendall Sawa

Kendall Sawa, RN

Chief Hospital Executive, PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center

Kendall began his leadership journey as a Registered Nurse on the front line of patient care, serving a 15-year tenure at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center. He returned to PeaceHealth after amassing more than 25 years of experience and innovation in executive healthcare leadership. Leading in multiple care environments, he is a skilled relationship-builder recognized for his thoughtful communication, presence and teamwork. Prior to rejoining PeaceHealth, Kendall served as chief operating officer for Providence Portland Medical Center. During his tenure, Providence gained top-quartile patient experience scores for inpatient and the Emergency Department as well as Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade A. Kendall holds a master’s in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix.

Sarah Cook

Chief Administrative Officer, Ketchikan Medical Center

Sarah is an experienced leader with a proven track record at PeaceHealth and has a deep commitment to the region. As the former Director of Surgical Services, Sarah identified and improved access and process flow in the OR. Sarah has worked collaboratively across disciplines and departments to foster a culture of teamwork. Prior to her role in Surgical Services, Sarah managed the Labor and Delivery unit and served as a house supervisor. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in St. Louis, MO, and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in healthcare leadership from Boise State in Boise, ID.

Nandita Gupta, MD

Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Ketchikan Medical Center

Nandita Gupta, MD, is a distinguished physician executive and accomplished cardiologist, with more than a decade of healthcare leadership and two decades of clinical expertise.  Prior to joining PeaceHealth, Dr. Gupta served as the Associate Chief Medical Officer at OHSU Health Hillsboro Medical Center. She holds a deep commitment to health equity and has ardently championed the cause of creating a healthcare ecosystem that ensures justice for patients and their families. Dr. Gupta is active in the American Heart Association of Oregon and Southwest Washington where she focuses on raising awareness and reducing disparities in heart care, especially among women. Dr. Gupta earned her MD from the University of Delhi, India, completed her residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, and a cardiology fellowship and healthcare Master of Business Administration from Oregon Health & Science University.

Interim Chief Medical Officer, PeaceHealth Medical Group

Simon Lai, MD, has wanted to help people with their health since he was three years old. That inspired him to become a family medicine doctor so he could partner with people in meeting their personal health goals. Now, Dr. Lai helps entire communities through his role as chief medical officer of PeaceHealth Medical Group. His work focuses on improving care and making sure people get the care they need, when they need it. In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Lai continues to care for newborns who are admitted to the hospital – a personal passion of his. Away from work, he likes to cook and spend time with his wife and four children.

Jen Moyes

Jen Moyes

VP of Patient Care Services / Chief Nursing Officer, Ketchikan Medical Center

Jennifer Moyes has been with PeaceHealth since 1996.  She has served in various leadership roles over the last 17 years, most recently as the Critical Care Nursing Director at PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center. Jennifer most recently has collaboratively transitioned a medical/surgical telemetry Unit to an intermediate care unit. She also has worked with the ICU physicians, nurses, therapies, respiratory therapist, and pharmacists to have an awake and walking ICU.  Jennifer is passionate about process improvement to improve both the patient and caregivers experience. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seattle University in Seattle, WA; Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Health Systems Leadership from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA; Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN.

Community Health Board

PeaceHealth is guided by the PeaceHealth System Board of Directors and by Community Health Boards in each of our network service areas in Oregon, Washington and Alaska.

These volunteer board members are community leaders who fully partner with PeaceHealth in making and supporting decisions based on our Mission and Values as well as our Vision for the organization—that every person receives safe, compassionate care: every time, every touch.
