Grape-Nuts Raisin Bread

A hearty homemade bread you can sink your teeth into.

Yield: 1 loaf (2 lbs, 16 slices)

Ingredients:

  • 1 ¼ cup water, 90-110 degrees
  • 3 Tablespoons olive/canola oil
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ¼ cup bread flour
  • 1 ½ cup whole wheat flour
  • ¾ cup Grape-Nut® cereal
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup raisins

Directions:

For best results, all ingredients should be room temperature. Add ingredients to bread machine in order suggested by the manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available.

Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1-2 Tbs water or flour as needed).

If you'd like a “sweeter” style bread, consider adding a little cinnamon to the recipe.
