A caregiver models the Value of Stewardship in giving back to her community and in saving valuable work resources.

“If you went to the dictionary and looked up the term ‘above and beyond,’ you would see a picture of Tina Noland,” said one of her colleagues.

Giving back is second nature for Tina, a supply chain manager at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, Oregon.

Several blue bags filled with Thanksgiving food wait to be delivered

Since 2008 Tina has volunteered to help with the annual Thanksgiving Basket project. In 2019 she stepped up to lead the project. The program provides a turkey and all the trimmings to area families who might not otherwise be able to afford the traditional holiday meal. Tina coordinates volunteers and donors to gather supplies and distribute the baskets to hundreds of households every year.

Her “above and beyond” reputation plays out in other ways as well.

Since 2010, Tina has served on the fundraising committee for the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic. She also helps the PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Foundation with the Children’s Miracle Network fundraising and its annual golf event. And she participates in the United Way campaign each year.

In 2022, Tina led the supply chain team in assisting with the World Athletics Championships Oregon22. The 10-day event included medical support from 40 PeaceHealth registered nurses and Dr. Hans Notenboom, the event’s medical director. Tina’s team earned praise for its dependability and flexibility.

“This is why Tina is the definition of ‘above and beyond,’” her colleagues said. “Every volunteer event I attend — sure enough, Tina is there; not just attending but working the event — fully engaged.”

She brings that same passion to her work.

Last year, she led a project to save $2.1 million in operating room supplies. This was especially tricky in today’s supply chain environment. In addition, she has made changes to help patients at RiverBend’s pre-anesthesia clinic, resulting in a 40% increase in pre-screens.

Tina is PeaceHealth’s 2023 systemwide Mission and Values Award recipient for the Value of Stewardship. These awards recognize inspiring caregivers living PeaceHealth’s Mission and Values of Social Justice, Stewardship, Respect and Collaboration, every day.
