Fast-track delivery and “servant’s heart” impresses safety officer

When Jim Cole called for a box of bandaging wrap, he didn’t expect to have it in hand within the hour.

Jim, an emergency medical service coordinator, was preparing for an upcoming trauma training session at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, Oregon.

He said Kristina Ceja, a specialist from the supply service department, answered the phone and immediately let him know what stock she had on hand.

“I asked her if it would be possible to deliver it within a few days. She said ‘no problem.’ Ten minutes later, she was knocking on the office door with a box of the rolls I needed for my project,” he said.

It wasn’t only the quick-turn results that impressed him, but also her attitude.

Her response to his expressions of gratitude were simply “I'm just glad to serve.” Jim said, “What a terrific way to serve and with the servant's heart that doesn't seek recognition, but the self-knowledge of a job extremely well done!”
