PeaceHealth Mission and Values Award recipient – Debbie Ulbricht
Debbie Ulbricht goes above and beyond to care for patients and her fellow caregivers.
Debbie Ulbricht, the environmental services lead for PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center, University District in Eugene, Oregon, personified the Value of Collaboration during the wildfires that affected the Eugene-Springfield community.
During the height of the wildfire season, many PeaceHealth caregivers had to evacuate their homes or had lost their homes due to the fires. There was an urgency when environmental services was called to assist in making the Children’s Miracle Network-Lions Patient Family Guest House available for these caregivers.
The facility had been vacant for quite a while and needed a thorough cleaning to prepare for incoming guests. And though it was near the end of her shift, Debbie happily jumped into the task of cleaning and came back with a list of additional needs and a request…that she be allowed to use her next two days off to continue working in the Guest House.
Her Mission and Values Awards nominator noted, “It meant a long week for her—11 days total and not a schedule usually approved—but she was very passionate about getting the house ready.”
Debbie made things more comfortable for those displaced caregivers whose lives had been turned upside down.
Not only did she prepare the Guest House for new arrivals, Debbie also volunteered to add the house cleaning to her weekly assignment during guest stays.
“She is an amazing caregiver who cares so much for our patients and caregivers,” shared her nominator. Debbie effectively demonstrates the Value of Collaboration in the way she created an atmosphere for others to improve personal and community health.
