A self-proclaimed critic says she had such a good experience she couldn’t find anything to complain about

The neurosurgery team at PeaceHealth's hospital in Vancouver, Washington has a big fan.

A retired nurse spoke so glowingly about her back surgery at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, her daughter-in-law wrote to say thanks.

The surgery “was a miracle for her and instantaneously she felt better,” the note said.

“She really appreciated that the nurses did the hand-off in front of her. As an ex-nurse herself, it made her feel much more at ease to know the next shift knew all about her.”

The patient herself agreed. “I was telling everyone what a great experience I had.”

Other than the surgery itself (because who really wants to have surgery, right?), she said “the staff made it as pleasant as could be.” She especially noted her care team’s professionalism and knowledge as well as the way they explained everything.

“I tend to be very critical, but I couldn’t find anything to be critical about,” she said. “Just as I thought I saw the best staff, the next shift would come on and they would be as good as the last ones.”
