Robotic-Assisted Surgery

PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center
is committed to providing you with safe,
minimally-invasive surgical options. In 2016,
we expanded these options to include a robotic-assisted surgery program with the da Vinci® Si Surgical System.

The da Vinci® System is powered by technology that allows the surgeon’s hand movements to be translated into smaller more precise movements using crystal-clear 3D high-density visualization. With robotic-assisted surgery, procedures are performed through 1-2 centimeter access incisions (about the size of a dime). These smaller surgical sites have been shown to decrease blood loss, and reduce the risk of infections and post-operative pain.

For patients, benefits may include:

  • Significantly less pain
  • Less blood loss
  • Less scarring
  • Shorter recovery time
  • A faster return to normal daily activities
  • And in many cases, better clinical outcomes

We are now able to offer surgical treatment for urologic and select gynecological conditions using the da Vinci® Si System.  These procedures are now available with robotic-assisted surgery:

  • Cystectomy (full or partial removal of the urinary bladder)
  • Partial nephrectomy (remove cancerous or diseased tissue from the kidney)
  • Prostatectomy (full or partial removal of the prostate gland)
  • Pyeloplasty (reconstruct or revise the renal pelvis to decompress the kidney to resolve urinary obstruction)
  • Sacrocolpoplexy (correct prolapse of the vaginal vault)
