Is Palliative Care Right for Me?Palliative care is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness, and can be provided together with treatment. The availability of palliative care doesn’t depend upon whether or not your condition can be cured.
- Suffer from pain or other symptoms due to any serious illness.
- Experience physical, emotional or spiritual pain that is not under control.
- Need help understanding your situation, coordinating your care and making decisions about your care.
Palliative Care is Different than Hospice Care
Unlike hospice care, which is limited to patients who have no more than six months to live and who are not pursuing treatment for a cure, palliative care is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness. It can be provided throughout a person’s illness, along with cure-seeking treatment.
