The endocrine system includes glands and organs that make hormones. Our bodies need hormones to grow and develop. Hormones are also needed for metabolism. When hormone levels are too high or too low, they can cause health issues.

Some endocrine problems can affect your mood, cause diabetes, affect bone strength and even cause weight gain which can be hard to lose. In addition, being overweight can also lead to endocrine disorders.

Many endocrine conditions need lifelong management. Your care team will ensure you know how to take good care of yourself — whether that means learning a new lifestyle that supports your weight loss or simply looking out for symptoms.

To help support patients, PeaceHealth offers a full range of services for weight loss and weight loss management:

BodyGem Metabolism Testing

How many calories should you eat and burn during exercise each day? If you’re trying to lose weight or maintain an ideal body fat ratio, this is important information to know!

The BodyGem™ resting metabolism test measures the number of calories your body burns each day at rest. Along with calculations of your activity levels, this helps determine your daily caloric needs.

The BodyGem test takes 10 to 15 minutes using an indirect calorimeter device. It is not a blood test.

Testing should be done in a fasted state - ideally in the morning.

*No caffeine, nicotine, food or exercise for 4-8 hours. Medications and water are OK.

The cost is $60 and includes the test, interpretation of results and your next steps according to your individual goals.

Call to schedule: 360-546-8900 option 1.
