Spiritual Care Services at Southwest Medical Center

Why you might need Spiritual Care Services

Facing a health care crisis can be a stressful experience for anyone. Many people find strength, comfort or peace through their faith. And there are those who don't profess a faith or belief but need someone willing to listen.

Spiritual Care Services is an important part of the PeaceHealth Southwest Healthcare Team. We are here to help meet your spiritual needs, help you connect with your own faith community, or just sit and listen to you.

We are here to provide a supportive presence to patients and families in their time of deepest need.

About Spiritual Care Services

Our Spiritual Care Services team comes from a variety of faith backgrounds and are skilled in providing ministry to people of most faith traditions.

Our services include attentive listening, prayer, rites or sacraments, spiritual resources and end-of-life care. We also offer ethical discussions, support in decision making, and crisis support.

When requested, we will contact a spiritual caregiver of a particular faith.

Spiritual Care Services also provides ministerial support to Hospice Southwest, the Ray Hickey Hospice House, and Bridges Palliative Care.

Staff chaplains at PeaceHealth Southwest are Certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains. All chaplains hired are required to be trained at a master's degree level. This certification and level of training helps to ensure the quality of spiritual care services at PeaceHealth Southwest.
