Your healthcare provider may use laboratory tests to screen for disease, investigate your symptoms, plan therapy, or evaluate the effectiveness of your treatment. Laboratory specialists are highly trained experts who perform a wide range of tests — from routine screenings to advanced testing — that help your healthcare provider find the best way to treat your illness. The lab team includes:
- Pathologists – Medical professionals specializing in diagnosing disease, often by carefully analyzing cell or tissue samples
- Medical Technologists – Laboratory specialists responsible for performing a variety of testing under direction of pathologists
- Phlebotomists – Collect blood for laboratory tests
PeaceHealth offers outpatient/outreach laboratory testing at the following locations:
- Cottage Grove Community Medical Center (Cottage Grove, Oregon)
- Ketchikan Medical Center (Ketchikan, Alaska)
- Peace Harbor Medical Center (Florence, Oregon)
- Peace Island Medical Center (Friday Harbor, Washington)
- United General Medical Center (Sedro-Woolley, Washington)
Additional collection locations can be found through our lab partner, Quest Diagnostics. Not all laboratory testing will be performed at a PeaceHealth laboratory. Depending on the test and collection location, it may need to be sent to Quest Diagnostics or another requested laboratory.
