Continuing Medical Education Mission
The mission of the PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center CME Program is to support the medical center’s vision by providing quality CME activities, supplying up-to-date information and clinical training based on identified needs for improved performance and professional development that will enhance the ability of physicians and other clinicians to deliver the finest healthcare services and continuously improve patient results.
Scope of Service
PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center CME Program will include conferences and series presented by leaders in a variety of medical fields. CME activities will include practical, evidence-based, best clinical practice information for a broad variety of common medical conditions, innovations in primary and specialty patient care, new procedural training, and specialty forums. Objectives will be based on needs assessment resources that include input from staff physicians, past participant evaluations, quality improvement findings, new medical and technological advances, and Medical Staff committee recommendations.
Target Audience
PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center activities will primarily focus on the needs of its Medical Staff, but will be promoted to other physicians and practitioners in the Pacific Northwest, as appropriate.
Types of Activities Provided
PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center activities will be offered in an assortment of formats and settings to include departmental settings, patient case conferences, Grand Round presentations, enduring materials both internet and non-internet based, journal club and procedural and skills trainings, as well as special programs
Expected Results of the Program
PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center CME courses will be designed to support changes in physician practices in order to increase their competence and performance and enhance the quality of patient care within the hospital’s service area. Effectiveness will be determined by reviewing target participant evaluations, as well a review of quality improvement outcomes and patient outcomes.
Assessment of Results
Ways and means to incorporate assessment of educational activities on patient care outcomes will be continually explored as an integral part of overall quality improvement efforts.
Endorsements and Responsibilities
PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center CME Department, Library-CME Committee Chair, and Committee members share the responsibility for ensuring that all ACCME Essential Areas and CME policies are followed. CME activities will fully comply with the requirements of the Accreditations Council for Continuing Medical Education and the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award.
