Honoring Bert Babb’s legacy of compassion and commitment to pediatric care

On August 25, the greens at Shadow Hills Country Club were buzzing — not just with golf carts and tee shots, but with heart. The 30th annual Bert Babb Memorial Children’s Miracle Network Golf Classic brought together more than 240 golfers, sponsors, volunteers and Miracle champions for a day filled with sunshine, stories and a whole lot of generosity.

Together, we raised over $215,000 to support life-saving care for infants and children at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. That’s not just a big number. It’s a big impact for families in our community.

This tournament started with a dream. Bert Babb, a former Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation board member, believed deeply in the mission of PeaceHealth and the Children’s Miracle Network, a program of the Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation. His vision helped launch what has become one of the region’s most meaningful traditions.  Bert believed every child deserves quality care, no matter what their family’s financial situation might be. Though Bert is no longer with us, his legacy continues to inspire every swing and smile.

“This year’s CMN Golf Classic was more than just a tournament. It was a celebration of 30 years of miracles,” said Amy Quiring, Associate Philanthropy Officer for Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation. “We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to support this event. Your generosity helps fund the equipment, services and programs that make a real difference for kids and families.”

And what a celebration it was. From a lemonade stand hosted by Miracle Families (yes, it was as sweet as it sounds), to raffle prizes, special guests from our Child Life Specialist program and HeartSafe Communities, and a visit from honorary chair Coach Dana Altman of UO Men’s Basketball, it was a day full of heart and hope.

Over the past 30 years, the tournament has raised more than $3 million for pediatric care at Sacred Heart Medical Center. Every dollar stays local, helping ensure that every child receives the best possible care, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

To everyone who joined us, thank you. You’re part of a legacy that’s changing lives, one miracle at a time.
