As an American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified Level II Trauma Center, PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend provides leadership in injury prevention programs, community outreach and excellence in education for our large trauma catchment area.
ACS STOP THE BLEED® (STB/BCON) Instructor Courses A course teaching the public how to save lives by identifying and stopping life threatening bleeding until Emergency Medical Services respond. We focus on offering the instructor course to qualified individuals as an opportunity to expand programs and agencies capable and willing to offer community STB courses.
Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS®) Provider Courses The ATLS® Provider Course is designed to train providers including physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who provide the first hours of emergency care to trauma victims. The two-day course utilizes didactic lectures and practical skill stations to effectively teach the principles of rapid, effective assessment and stabilization. All courses are conducted according to the guidelines of the American College of Surgeons.
Advanced Trauma Life Support® Refresher Courses The ATLS® Refresher Course is designed to retrain and recertify practitioners who provide the first hours of emergency care to trauma victims. The one-day recertification course utilizes didactic lectures and practical skill stations to effectively teach the principles of rapid, effective assessment and stabilization. All courses are conducted according to the guidelines of the American College of Surgeons.
Nurse Residency and Orientation The training sessions provide nurses with core-level trauma knowledge and skills and presents a systematic standardized approach to nursing care of the trauma patient. Focus is on new and transitioning bedside RNs who will take care of trauma patients throughout the hospital.
Prehospital Critical Care Trauma Series These live and online webinars, offered monthly, critical care level prehospital and interfacility education on the care of trauma patients and lessons learned in the field and in the hospital. These are accredited by the International Board of Specialty Certification and approved for accredited EMS CE by the Oregon Health Authority.
Prehospital Trauma Life Support® (PHTLS) Support We partner with state and local agencies and organizations to offer Prehospital Trauma Life Support ® courses to our EMS providers throughout the region.
Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC) Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC™) has been developed to improve the quality of care in rural communities by developing a timely, organized, and systemic response to trauma patient care. Contact us for this opportunity.
Trauma Grand Rounds Trauma Grand Rounds are held quarterly to present new developments and hot topics in Trauma which will provide information that will enhance the medical teams’ clinical skills and ability to care for patients. This physician CE event is available in-person and online with subjects chosen by the Trauma Medical Director.
