PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center receives pair of accolades

| News | Mission

PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center was recognized as being among the best hospitals in Washington, according to rankings recently published by Forbes.

St. John Medical Center achieved a five-star rating -- the top recognition available – in this inaugural edition of the list.

The ratings draw from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Provider Data Catalog across four areas: patient outcomes (weighted at 55 percent), hospital best practices (20 percent), value (15 percent) and patient experience (10 percent).

St. John received five-star ratings for the value they provided and patient outcomes.

Only 781 hospitals nationwide earned their way onto Forbes’s list, which focuses on roughly the top 30 percent of eligible acute-care hospitals in each state.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication and effort our caregivers bring to St. John every day and demonstrates the commitment we have to our patients and the community of Longview,” said Kendall Sawa, chief executive at St. John Medical Center.

This is just the latest accolade for the hospital.

The Washington State Hospital Association recently awarded St. John Medical Center its Rural Hospital Achievement of Quality Excellence for the hospital’s quality work. The Association presented the award to PeaceHealth St. John during its Rural Hospital Leadership Conference on June 28.
