The PeaceHealth Southwest Foundation announces completion of its successful funding campaign to enhance neurosciences care in our community. Since the opening of the "Campaign for Neurosciences Excellence" in February of 2014, the PeaceHealth Southwest Foundation has raised more than $10.5 million to help achieve the goal of providing the highest level of neurological care in southwest Washington.

The final phase of the campaign - funding the renovation and expansion of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit - was achieved, thanks to cumulative campaign gifts totaling $1,000,000 from an anonymous donor and a gift of $600,000 from the Tod and Maxine McClaskey Foundation. At the request of the anonymous donor, the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit will be named in honor of Benjamin H. McGough, MD. (pronounced Mc-Gyew) Dr. McGough is a retired Orthopedic Surgeon and one of the founders of Rebound Orthopedics and Neurosurgery.
The Benjamin H. McGough, MD Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit will be relocated to the third floor of the Mother Joseph building. The unit will include 14 private patient rooms, an expanded rehabilitation gym, dining room, outdoor therapy garden, and space for support services. The current unit will remain open during construction and will move into its new home by fall of 2018.
A wing in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit will be named in honor of Cyril S. Dodge, MD, who provided care for both Tod and Maxine McClaskey.
“My grandparents, Tod and Maxine McClaskey would have been pleased to be involved with this project. We are glad to have the opportunity to carry on their legacy of generosity and to honor Dr. Dodge,” said Jillian Hagstrom, board member of the McClaskey Foundation.
In addition to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, community donors helped to create the Thomas and Sandra Young Neurosciences Center on the 6th Floor of the Firstenburg Tower; the Jay D. Miller, M.D. Neuroscience Caregiver Education Endowment; and the Ron and Terry Prill Cardiac Center on the 4th floor of the Mother Joseph Building at PeaceHealth Southwest.
