A slipped capital femoral epiphysis is a hip problem. It happens when the upper end of the thighbone, or femur, slips at the area where the bone is growing. It's common in teenagers. Symptoms may include mild to severe pain especially near the hip. And they may feel stiffness and may have a limp.
