OCCU Foundation Makes Significant Donation to PeaceHealth Child Life Specialist Program

SPRINGFIELD, Ore.- What if kids were not scared to go to the hospital? What if parents had someone to stand beside them to offer emotional support during a stressful time?

Those are the goals of PeaceHealth’s Child Life Specialist program and, with a significant donation from the OCCU Foundation, the program will be expanded to help even more children and families in the future.

OCCU Foundation has pledged to support the position for three years with a $300,000 donation. The contribution is a lead gift to PeaceHealth’s $1 million fundraising campaign.

Neurological care advances in Oregon with equipment upgrade at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart at RiverBend

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Time is critical when treating medical conditions affecting the brain, including strokes and aneurysms. The longer a patient goes without treatment, the greater the chance of irreversible damage. Thanks to a generous $1 million grant from the Runnin’ Wild Fund of Oregon Community Foundation, this month PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend upgraded its current minimally invasive neurosurgery equipment, called a neuro biplane.

Strides for Social Justice adds two new University of Oregon routes

In recognition of Black History Month, Strides for Social Justice has added two new routes to its series of local Black history tours. Now participants can explore the University of Oregon (UO) campus as they learn about extraordinary individuals who fought for justice, broke barriers and opened doors for so many others. PeaceHealth launched Strides for Social Justice a year ago in collaboration with Eugene Marathon and a community steering committee, including local Black leaders and educators.

National Guard to provide support again at Sacred Heart Medical Centers in Oregon

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – With another surge of COVID-19 putting a strain on hospital staffing and resources PeaceHealth is honored to again accept assistance from the Oregon National Guard. PeaceHealth will welcome service members to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield and Sacred Heart Medical Center, University District in Eugene by Friday, Jan. 21. They will be serving for 30 days in nonclinical roles, with a priority on Food Services and Environmental Services.
