That’s why for more than a century we’ve invested in not just caring for people when they’re sick, but also lowering barriers to health in our community. Here are a few recent examples.
A $300,000 grant for the Millworks, a Mercy Housing NW development on the Bellingham waterfront with affordable apartments and childcare.
$100,000 for kitchen renovations for the Lummi Nation Boys & Girls Club, a community center offering youth activities, after-school care and summer camps.
$400,000 for the Way Station, a 17-bed community space with health services, laundry and showers for people experiencing homelessness, opening in 2024.

New services and locations
You’ll soon see more ways that we’re growing to meet the needs for care in Whatcom County. These include:
- A dedicated pediatrics unit to serve children at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center.
- A new behavioral health clinic on Rimland Drive to tend to patients’ mental health needs.
- A new primary care and specialist clinic in Lynden to serve North County communities. It’s set to open in spring 2024.
- A planned update and expansion for the main hospital at PeaceHealth St. Joseph so we can care for more people. Upgrades include a modernized emergency department, a six-level building with single-patient rooms, and a new care area for babies, women and children.
