Chaplain Hanson is a native of the northern plains of Montana. She earned a BA from the University of Montana in Religious Studies/Art and a Master of Divinity from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA. Janet is an ordained elder and endorsed in the United Methodist Church. Janet did her first two units of CPE training at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ and Merritt Peralta Medical Center in Oakland, CA. While serving as an interim pastor for a United Methodist Congregation, Janet completed her Residency and Supervisory CPE training at California Pacific Medical Center. She was certified as a CPE Supervisor in 1996. She has served as a chaplain in a variety of settings including medical, psychiatric, and addiction recovery programs, counseling centers and at the veteran’s hospital. Janet is happy to be returning to work within the PeaceHealth system after helping to start the CPE program in Eugene/Springfield, OR. She believes PeaceHealth’s mission and active integration of faith-based values align well with her desire to create an educational environment committed to the formation of spiritual leaders. Janet and her wife Dana live in Vancouver, WA. They have four young adult children who have “left the nest” and are making their way in the world.
