Clinical Placements

Our CPE program serves the Columbia Network of PeaceHealth which includes three clinical placements. Through dialogue with your CPE Educator and in consideration of your learning goals and the program needs you will be placed in one of these sites. A portion of the student group will be assigned to the PeaceHealth Southwest campus for clinical duties, with others placed at PeaceHealth St. John in Longview. At times, students are placed at the Ray Hickey Hospice House. Each offsite placement has a preceptor for the student and clinical site contract in place. All the students share in providing on-call overnight coverage on the PHSW or PHSJ campus.

The CPE Program is located at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Students meet here for the educational portion of their CPE training.

PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, WA. provides comprehensive specialty care for more than 190,000 patients per year in Cowlitz County, Washington. PeaceHealth St. John offers dozens of medical specialty services and programs including emergency, trauma, heart, behavioral health, bone and joint, cancer, birthing and women’s services.

Cowlitz County is located on the Columbia River in southern Washington, adjacent to the Portland metropolitan area. Longview has approximately 37,337 residents. A predominantly rural area and home to the stunning Mt. St. Helen’s National Volcanic Monument, the county has two active ports, a highly productive wood-products industry, two paper mills, and a diverse manufacturing base.

PeaceHealth Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver, WA . offers local families an alternative home-like environment where loved ones may receive end-of-life care. The center includes 20 private rooms for its patients where families can visit day and night. Some overnight accommodations are also available for family members.
