Pharmacy Residency Program

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center (PHSW) began offering a one-year ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency in pharmacy practice in July of 1996. When the program began, two residents were selected to participate in the program. After successful completion of the third resident class, the program expanded to the selection of three residents in 1999 and four residents in 2007. In 2017, PHSW joined with PeaceHealth St John to offer six residency positions between the two hospital sites. In 2019, each hospital began offering their own residency program and PHSW maintained four PGY1 residency positions. PHSW has continued to expand the residency program with the addition of a PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy residency position. While structured to meet the intent of the current ASHP residency standards, training experiences are individualized based on existing resident competencies and personal interests.
