On February 22nd, I was presented in the emergency room, bleeding from my rectum and my mouth.

I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, so I refused a blood transfusion. Due to the severity of the situation, and because of my religious beliefs, I was immediately approached by the Blood Conservation Service.  They were amazing, working with the doctors, helping them to understand what I could and what I couldn’t use, and to make them aware of my wishes.

If that wasn’t enough, they were available to myself and more importantly to my family, day or night, answering questions and giving us much needed emotional support.

I cannot THANK Parrish and April enough.  Words cannot describe how helpful and how grateful I am for this program.  I truly believe their help aided in my recovery, and without it, I don’t know that I would   be writing this letter today.

Thank you, Southwest Hospital, all the Doctors and Nurses, and especially the Blood Conservation Service, Parrish and April.
