Celebrating the generosity that reimagined emergency care

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Building

In the heart of Clark County, something remarkable is taking shape. What began as an ambitious vision to reimagine emergency and community healthcare for our growing region is becoming a reality — thanks to the extraordinary generosity of local donors, volunteers and leaders.

Through the Healthcare Reimagined Campaign, our community has come together to ensure that PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center continues to meet the evolving needs of every person who calls this community home.

How we are reimagining care

In July 2024, we opened phase one of the reimagined Emergency Department — a modern, healing-centered space designed to meet the needs of today while preparing for the future. This new environment supports patients with complex needs through an emphasis on efficiency, sustainability and compassion.

The new Emergency Department expands from 52 to 76 treatment rooms and from 3 to 9 nursing stations – giving caregivers the space and resources they need to provide exceptional care to every patient. An upgraded triage area, along with 72 new parking spaces, improves accessibility and supports the growing number of people seeking emergency care. Thoughtful design elements such as pocket gardens, walking paths and an outdoor courtyard offer moments of respite for caregivers, patients and loved ones — promoting wellness even in times of crisis.

But Healthcare Reimagined is about more than new walls and design elements – it's about people and connection. It’s about creating a system of care that treats the whole person. Roughly 40% of Emergency Department visits are made by people seeking help with behavioral health challenges, addiction, homelessness, food insecurity, domestic violence or other barriers to health.

The innovative Community Health Hub, which opened in October 2024, brings together medical and community partners under one roof to address these root causes and connect patients with the support they need to truly heal.

By bringing compassionate care and community resources together in one place, the Hub is helping to break cycles of crisis and strengthen the fabric of community health.

A community effort, a shared achievement

With unprecedented community support, the Healthcare Reimagined project represents the largest fundraising effort in Southwest Washington history — powered by local generosity. It stands as a shining example of what’s possible when a community unites around a shared vision for health and hope.

Nearly there — thanks to you

We’re so close to crossing the finish line. Every beam placed and space completed stands as a testament to what our community can achieve together. While this campaign is nearing its successful completion, there’s still time to be part of this extraordinary moment in PeaceHealth Southwest’s story.

This is our hospital and our community — and together, we’re shaping the future of care for generations to come.
