CMER Clinical Observation Request

Who Can Apply for a Clinical Observation Experience?

Please note that PeaceHealth is unable to match applicants with sponsors. Applicants must identify a PeaceHealth caregiver or medical staff member who has already agreed to sponsor their observation request.

PeaceHealth may offer clinical observation experiences to individuals who wish to gain a better understanding of healthcare careers and clinical operations through observation only. Eligible applicants must:

  • Have a PeaceHealth Caregiver who will supervise the observation experience.
  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Complete all required application, confidentiality, and orientation materials.
  • Meet applicable health screening and immunization requirements, including tuberculosis screening and required vaccinations.
  • Understand that observers may not participate in patient care, assist with procedures, handle medical records, or perform any hands-on activities.
  • The operational manager of the area observed will also need to approve the observation.

Clinical observation experiences are intended for educational and career exploration purposes and are subject to department approval, sponsor availability, patient consent, and organizational requirements. Observation opportunities are generally limited to normal business hours and may not exceed 12 hours per observation experience.

Submission of an application does not guarantee placement. All requests are reviewed in accordance with PeaceHealth policies and operational needs.

To be cleared for your observation, please complete and submit the following:

✅ Required Documents (PDF format only)

  • Application to Observe Form 
    • Complete pages 1 and 2
    • Have your sponsor sign page 3
    • Must be signed and returned.
    • Include copies of your immunization records
      • NOTE: Employee health provides stringent requirements for documenting your immunizations and titer status detailed in the application.  Per PeaceHealth policy, they require two steps of a skin test (1-3 weeks apart) or a Quantiferon Gold blood test. 
  • Confidentiality Agreement
    • Must be signed and returned.

  • Job shadows / clinical observations are limited to a maximum of 12 hours per day according to PeaceHealth policy
