In loving memory of Wanda Joyce (Molt) Schippers

In loving memory Wanda Joyce (Molt) Schippers October 22, 1942 - October 8, 2026

Sadly, we share that Wanda Joyce (Molt) Schippers passed away Oct 8, 2026, at the Richard Nau Hospice House, where she received amazing care. She was surrounded with love from her family and the staff who’d cared for her.

Wanda was born to Julius Gustiv Molt & Golda May (Robertson) Molt on Oct 22, 1942, in Hiawatha, KS. As the 8th of 9 children, she was born on the kitchen table before the rest of the kids got home from school. While she was very young, the family moved from Hiawatha to Eastern WA and lived in a tent for about a year before relocating to the local area. Here, they lived in her Aunt Bert’s garage until her dad got a job at Fibre and then they moved to the Carrolls area. Later, they moved to Crawford St in Kelso. She graduated from Kelso High School in 1960.

After graduation, Wanda was employed at Fibre as a Billing Clerk.
She met her future husband, Jerry, in 1961 when he was having her brother (Dale) buy him some booze. Wanda was on the living room floor reading the newspaper when Jerry first saw her. They went on their first date that evening. They dated for four years before marrying in 1965. Wanda & Jerry did some traveling and enjoyed multiple adventures before having their first child, Reva, in 1969. At that point, she left her job at Fibre to focus on being a wife, homemaker, & mom — which she was excellent at. A few years later, in 1972, they had their second daughter, Cindy. Their son, Eric, came in 1974.

That same year, she began her subscription to National Geographic. She enjoyed their maps, history accounts, stories of ancient civilizations (where she attributed some of the best advances to aliens), etc. Some of her most enjoyed pastimes were reading, gardening, listening to music, travel (they went for 2 weeks to Honduras to see Cindy, on a cruise through the Panama Canal, and visited 45 of the 50 states, along with many other trips), family functions, geneology, decorating for Christmas, her Hallmark ornaments, and going to casinos. She had good fun getting and sharing the local gossip. Wanda also enjoyed bird watching and keeping up with the squirrels in the front yard.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; her siblings - Robert Molt, Bernard Molt, Shirley Olson, & Colleen Molt; and numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Jerry; her children Reva Schippers, Cindy Schippers, Eric Schippers (Stephanie); her grandchildren Ashley (Mark) Ulysse, Jacob (Janelle) Schippers; her great-granddaughter Ellanor Schippers; her siblings - Evelyn Lippard, Wayne Molt, Dale Molt & Lareda Richards; and a large circle of loving extended family & friends.

We invite you to join us for her Celebration of Life on Oct 24, 2026, at the Longview Woman’s Club (835 21st Ave) from 1-4pm. We’ll be sharing some words beginning about 1:15pm, followed by a reception with snacks/beverages and lots of visiting. She loved sparkles, floral prints, leopard patterns, & bling so we encourage you to come dressed with her in mind!

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her honor to the non-profit National Geographic Society or to a charity of your choice. Just know that Wanda said if it’s a religious charity she’ll haunt you!
