Stroke Rehabilitation

Recovering from the effects of stroke involves rehabilitation on many levels. The Oregon Rehabilitation Center, is a nationally accredited, 27-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, located inside Sacred Heart Medical Center at the University District campus. This stroke rehabilitation program focuses on helping patients to:

  • Increase independence and safety in daily living skills
  • Develop mobility, strength and endurance
  • Control bowel and bladder function
  • Improve language and communication skills
  • Adjust emotionally and psychologically to the effects of stroke
  • Re-enter and move about the community
  • Assess the need for special equipment
  • Evaluate and modify the home for the stroke patient
