Palliative care is specialized medical care for those living with a serious illness. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for both our patients and their loved ones. Our Palliative Care program at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center offers:
- Expert treatment of, and relief from, a variety of distressing symptoms that include pain, problems with sleep, medication side effects, fatigue and other issues.
- Emotional and spiritual support, education and open discussions about treatment options.
- Assistance with completing advance directives.
- Coordination of care between patients and their health care providers, including hospitalists and consultants.
Supporting Palliative Care
We appreciate community support to help pay for items and services not covered by insurance. Contact the PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation to make a gift or for more information. Online, tax deductible donations are also accepted by designating "Palliative Care" under the donation drop down option.
In most cases, palliative care is provided in the hospital by a team of professionals that includes medical specialists, nurses, social workers, chaplains and others. We work closely together - and with your primary care provider - to ensure you receive the most comprehensive care.
