A tribute message to Mary Kay Mays Halvorsen sits atop a background image of a lighthouse on a beach

Linda Kay Mays Halverson passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023. She was 82 years old.

She was born in 1941 to Mary Pauline Mays and Joseph Frank Mays, Jr. in Los Angeles, California. At a young age she participated in countless church activities and choir.  It was there that Linda met her first husband, Don Marjama, then wed in 1957. They went on to be married for several years and had 2 children together, Tim & Sally.

Linda and family moved to Solvang/Santa Ynez Valley where she opened a small gift store and became a horse lover.  After several years she relocated to the Chico, California area where she met her beloved, late husband, Edward Alfred Halverson.  Linda worked in the real estate business later becoming a broker at Fran Shelton Realty.  After many successful years she retired with her hobby of photography "developing" her new profession. Linda specialized in large format and black & white photography having a small studio in Chico.

Linda and Ed were married in 1981 until Ed’s passing in February of 2018.  They enjoyed travelling, camping, and fishing with many friends and neighbors through the years.  She relocated to Vancouver, Washington in 2021 to be closer to her children.  Linda leaves behind her daughter, Sally Freese, son, Tim Marjama, stepson, Craig Halverson, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as her brother, Tom Mays, of Chico, California, his 3 sons and grandchildren.

We want to thank the Hospice personnel who were so caring and helpful to Mom and us during her last days. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation towards Peace Health Hospice Care.
