Dr. Cusati was born and raised in Venezuela. After obtaining a medical degree in his native country he moved to the United States where he completed his surgical training. He completed a General Surgery Residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. After finishing his training he continued further surgical sub-specialty training and completed two fellowships in minimally invasive surgery and in hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Cusati is certified by the American Board of Surgery, a member of the Lane County Medical Society, Mayo Clinic Priestly Society, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American Medical Association, American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and the American College of Surgeons. He has published and lectured on multiple topics at a national level in minimally invasive surgery and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. He also serves an Affiliate Associate Professor of Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) assisting with training of medical students.

His areas of special interest and expertise include minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery, surgery of the liver and pancreas, surgery for cancer of the digestive system including small bowel and colon, surgery for reflux disease and hernia surgery.

Dr. Cusati and his wife, Leslie have two children. He enjoys spending time with his family, bicycling, reading, grilling and soccer.
