Karthik P. Mahadevan MD

Karthik Mahadevan, MD, has been practicing since 2003, with expertise in pulmonary and critical care and sleep medicine. He had been with Oregon Lung Specialists since 2006.

He earned his doctor of medicine from Kilpauk Medical College. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University.

His primary focus has been on pulmonology and lung cancer.

He knew from a young age that he wanted to have a career in healthcare after watching his father, who was a critical care physician himself. “I remember seeing ventilators when I was 10 years old,” he said.

His approach to medicine is one of compassion. “I think that’s the cornerstone of my patient care,” he said. “I strive to factor in the person and their social dynamics. We often prescribe treatments without recognizing it’s not practical for somebody.”

Dr. Mahadevan has a strong track record of developing and establishing new programs throughout his career, including a pair of sleep labs. He served on the local COVID task force.

Dr. Mahadevan is married with two grown sons. He also speaks Tamil. When he’s not at work, you can find him buried in a book or hiking one of the local trails.
