Robert Gillespie NP

Robert Gillespie, NP, has joined the family practice clinic at the Cottage Grove Community Medical Center.

He earned his master of science in nursing from Northwest Nazarene University and bachelor of science in nursing from Oregon Health & Science University.

His career in healthcare was sparked after taking a wilderness first-responder course that was connected to his earlier work in environmental restoration, combined with a lifelong interest in biology, physiology and anatomy.

After working in other areas of healthcare, he came to enjoy talking and interacting with his patients, which led him toward working in a primary care setting.

“Getting to know people I’m working with is my favorite part,” Gillespie said, adding that he also enjoys the educational aspect of working with his patients.

“My philosophy is joint decision-making: We come to a conclusion that works for everybody,” he added.

Gillespie grew up in Eugene and later went on to attend the University of Oregon and compete on the track and field team.

He has five children and enjoys taking his dogs on hikes or working out in the gym when not caring for his patients.
