Nathan A. Garton MD

Nathan Garton, MD, is a board-certified doctor of emergency medicine.

Dr. Garton has cared for patients in Lane County since 2018 through the Eugene Emergency Physicians (EEP) group. EEP provides emergency department doctors for PeaceHealth’s Oregon hospitals. Dr. Garton is the Chief Financial Officer for EEP and oversees its physician assistants.

He understands that ER visits often happen on a patient's “most difficult day.” He tries to ease that experience through “compassionate listening and problem-solving,” he shares.

At PeaceHealth’s hospital in Springfield, he has actively worked to reduce patient anxiety and discomfort. For example, he helped train emergency nurses in the use of guided ultrasound to insert IVs.

Emergency ultrasound is Dr. Garton’s specialty. He completed an ultrasound fellowship at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital in N.Y. Dr. Garton also did his emergency medical training there.

At Strong, he received numerous awards for clinical quality, ultrasound and research. Three times, he earned the “Strong Star” for excellent patient care.

In his free time, Dr. Garton enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, reading and traveling with his family.
