Mark A. Scaife MD

Mark Scaife, MD, has joined the vascular surgical team at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.

Scaife earned his doctor of medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – Mercy, and his vascular fellowship at the Carolinas Medical Center.

He most recently spent five years in private practice for Vascular Surgery Associates in Virginia.

He is board certified in general and vascular surgery but practices exclusively vascular surgery.

He is able to offer the full spectrum of vascular surgical care with special interest in complex aortic work, critical limb ischemia, limb salvage in addition to venous work and dialysis.

His philosophy of care includes providing long-term collaborative and comprehensive care with access to the latest interventions, including endovascular, surgical and hybrid approaches.

“With vascular patients, due to the nature of the disease, it is likely going to be a long-term relationship,” he said. “The goal is to help patients understand what is going on and collaborate on a treatment plan that fits their goals and needs.”

When not working, Scaife enjoys ultramarathon running, competing in Ironman triathlons, rowing, cycling, kayaking and woodworking. He is married and has two sons.
