Biography

Caroline Means, NP, has joined the psychiatry department and will practice at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend and the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit at University District.

She earned her master of science in nursing as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner from Gonzaga University and her bachelor of science in nursing from Idaho State University.

She most recently worked at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

She brings to her new role a strong background in an inpatient psychiatric hospital providing compassionate, evidence-based support to individuals experiencing acute mental health crisis. She is skilled in de-escalations, therapeutic communication and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, patient-centered outcomes in high-acuity settings.

“My philosophy of care is grounded in the belief that every individual deserves to be seen, heard and respected,” Means said. “I'm committed to creating an inclusive, compassionate and culturally sensitive environment where clients and their families feel supported through their mental health journey.

“I strive to break the stigma surrounding mental health care by offering a person-centered, holistic support - seeing each client as more than a diagnosis,” she added. “Through empathy, collaboration and evidence-based practice, I aim to walk alongside my clients with integrity and respect, providing care that honors their unique stories, values and goals.”

Outside of work, Means enjoys spending quality time with her family.

“As a busy mother of three, family keeps me grounded and inspired,” she said.
