Arielle J. Perez MD

Arielle Perez, MD, has joined the surgical team at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.

She earned her doctor of medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio’s School of Medicine. She also has a master of public health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s School of Public Health and a master of science in physiology and biophysics from Georgetown University.

She is a board-certified general surgeon with advanced fellowship training in abdominal wall reconstruction and hernia repair from the Cleveland Clinic. Her practice focuses on treating all types of abdominal wall issues using open, laparoscopic and robotic techniques.

Prior to joining PeaceHealth, she was an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was the director of the UNC Hernia Center, and helped train medical students and future surgeons as associate program director for the General Surgery Residency and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship.

Her philosophy of care is centered on collaboration, communication and trust while staying up to date on the latest techniques and evidence.

“I believe the best outcomes happen when patients feel informed, supported and involved in every step of the decision-making process,” she said. “Every person’s situation is unique, so I make an effort to understand their goals, lifestyle and concerns before tailoring a treatment plan that’s right for them.”

Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their furry four-legged family members exploring Oregon’s beautiful landscapes, as well as trying out new restaurants and food trucks, and discovering new places throughout the Pacific Northwest.
