OBJECTIVES:

After this presentation participants should be able to describe:

  1. Findings on history and clinical breast examination that indicate the need for further work-up and/or referral to a breast specialist to rule out malignancy.
  2. Clinical scenarios that require further work-up despite having negative imaging study results.  
  3. Common side effects of chemotherapy discuss treatment & indications that indicate referral to a medical oncologist or the Emergency Department.
  4. Types of breast radiotherapy, indications for radiation therapy, and the most common side effects. 
  5. Potential survivorship concerns after being treated for breast cancer and suggest approaches that may improve the patient's quality of life.
