Community Collaboration
We are proud of our mission to help others and are dedicated to giving back to our communities. In 2025, PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center gave over $1.3 million in grants to Whatcom County community partners.
Here are a few recent examples:
Affordable housing
We gave $300,000 to The Millworks project, which provides affordable apartments and childcare in Bellingham. Millworks is owned and operated by Mercy Housing NW, and the Whatcom Family YMCA manages the childcare center.
Healthy, accessible food
We donated $300,000 to the Bellingham Senior Center toward the construction of their future Meals on Wheels and More commercial kitchen.
Respite care for the unhoused
To date, PeaceHealth has invested $1 million in The Way Station, a state-of-the-art health, hygiene and 24/7 respite facility dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness in the Whatcom area.
Behavioral health services
We supported the Whatcom Clubhouse with $175,000, providing a day program for people with mental health diagnoses.
Support for families with newborns
We contributed a $100,000 grant toward the renovation and opening of the Bellingham YWCA’s Lakeway shelter.
