PeaceHealth St. Joseph Emergency Department west parking lot to close May 11
| News
BELLINGHAM, Wash.— On Monday, May 11, the Emergency Department parking lot on the west side of the main PeaceHealth St. Joseph ED entrance off Squalicum Parkway—a total of 33 stalls— will be closed to allow for the installation of stormwater infrastructure for the new Peter Paulsen Pavilion. This may have a significant impact on the availability of public parking through the remaining two-year duration of the project.
We are taking the following steps to minimize disruption and frustration for patients and visitors.
- Additional signage is being installed the week at all ED parking access points as well as along Squalicum Parkway to assist with wayfinding and encourage visitor parking in the Central Garage.
- A flyer with a simplified parking map and info related to the reduced parking (see below) will be distributed to the Security desk at the ED entrance and East Tower entrance information desk. In addition, a plastic brochure box stocked with flyers will be placed near the ED pickup/dropoff curb.
Construction of the Peter Paulsen Pavilion will expand services for women’s and children’s care and the Emergency Department. The six-story addition will be integrated into the west side of the hospital and is expected to be completed sometime in 2028.
