A celebration of gratitude in full bloom!

What began as a cheerful springtime idea from the PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center Caregiver Engagement Working Group blossomed into something truly special! Seven departments took part in our first-ever “Hatching Hope” project, each crafting a unique basket to honor staff and volunteers at local nonprofit partner organizations.

These nonprofits—past and present recipients of PeaceHealth Community Health grant funds—play a vital role in strengthening our community. This project gave caregivers a chance to say “thank you” in a personal, meaningful way.

As baskets were delivered throughout the first two weeks of April, community partners expressed deep appreciation for the thoughtful gifts and the recognition of their ongoing work. Many shared how uplifting it was to feel seen and supported by the caregivers who serve alongside them in strengthening community health.

Our judging panel also had the delightful (and difficult!) task of selecting the top three baskets. The creativity on display made this no easy feat. Congratulations to this year’s winners:

  • First Place – Clinical Decision Unit (Amy’s Place/Dementia Support NW)
  • Second Place – Behavioral Health Unit (Lighthouse Mission)
  • Third Place – Women and Children’s Services (Catholic Community Services’ Pasos Seguros at Villa Santa Fe)

Other participating departments were the Cancer Center (Brigid Collins Family Support Center), Executive Team (Unity Care Health & Hygiene Center at The Way Station), Health Promotion NW (Lydia Place) and Nursing Administration (Chuckanut Health Foundation’s Oasis) Each winning basket stood out for its originality, attention to detail and heartfelt message of gratitude.

We look forward to seeing this tradition grow in the years ahead.
