PeaceHealth, Bushnell Reach Sale Agreement on Portion of University District Property

| News | Service Line

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – PeaceHealth has reached a purchase agreement with Bushnell University on a portion of the former Sacred Heart Medical Center, University District campus.

PeaceHealth and Bushnell have agreed to terms on a sale involving two buildings along 11th Avenue in Eugene, between Hilyard Street and Alder Street.

The first – 770 E. 11th Avenue – is a four-story building that currently houses PeaceHealth’s behavioral health unit, among other offices. PeaceHealth plans to lease back the first floor BHU space and second floor behavioral health outpatient offices until it begins and completes construction on Timber Springs Behavioral Health Hospital.

The second – 722 E. 11th Avenue – is a three-story building, which currently contains PeaceHealth’s Medical Education and Research department as well as Bushnell’s nursing program space. PeaceHealth had leased the nursing program space to Bushnell at a substantially reduced rate nearly two years ago to help expand local development of nurses.

“We are very happy to come to an agreement with Bushnell for two of our University District buildings,” said Dr. Jim McGovern, PeaceHealth Oregon Network’s Chief Hospital Executive. “Bushnell’s campus can now continue to grow, as can its nursing program.”

PeaceHealth is actively negotiating with various parties on other parcels of the University District property.

All PeaceHealth Medical Group clinics at 1200 Hilyard Street, in addition to the behavioral health unit, will remain open during the sale process and will continue in operation through a lease after any potential sale.
