“A” grades from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are considered to be the gold standard measure of patient safety
VANCOUVER, Wash. – PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Washington, has once again been awarded an “A” grade from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades for spring 2026.
“Earning an ‘A’ in Hospital Safety reflects the everyday commitment of our caregivers to do the right thing for every person, every time. By combining evidence‑based practices with a deep respect for those we serve, we continue to advance care that is safe, compassionate and worthy of our communities’ trust,” shared Natalie Blum, PeaceHealth System Vice President for Quality, Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Management.
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. It is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
