VANCOUVER, Wash. – PeaceHealth recently announced that Richard “Ric” Magnuson is serving as its interim executive vice president, chief financial officer.

An accomplished financial executive, Magnuson will lead PeaceHealth’s long-term financial strategies in support of patients, their families and community members. This announcement comes following the departure of PeaceHealth’s executive vice president, chief financial and growth officer Darrin Montalvo who is leaving PeaceHealth as of July 11. As PeaceHealth recruits for a new executive to oversee financial strategies and operations, the organization continues to have a strong, dedicated leadership team in place.

“With Magnuson’s deep expertise and thoughtful leadership, we’re confident in our ability to navigate the complexities of the current healthcare landscape while building a stronger, more sustainable future,” said Liz Dunne, president and chief executive officer. “This appointment reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence, accountability, and the long-term well-being of the communities we serve.”

Magnuson began his healthcare career as a bedside nursing assistant to help pay for college. He pivoted toward finance, serving as CFO for several organizations including City of Hope in Duarte, California. Most recently, Magnuson served as the CFO for Allina Health in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area of Minnesota where he had 25 cumulative years of service.

“It’s an honor to step into this role and contribute to a mission that has such a meaningful impact,” said Magnuson. “I look forward to supporting our shared goals and helping ensure PeaceHealth remains financially strong and mission-driven for the long term.”

Magnuson earned an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Magnuson is based at PeaceHealth’s system office in Vancouver, Washington. He officially joined the organization on June 16.
