It’s not the first birthday celebration they had imagined. It was still momentous.

It’s not the first birthday celebration they had imagined for their first and only child. Nonetheless, it was a momentous occasion for the Panick family in a different way.Cuddle Cot in memory of Carson Panick

On what would have been their son Carson’s first birthday, parents Kiana and Jason presented the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center’s Family Birth Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with a precious gift – a new “Cuddle Cot” in memory of their baby boy.

A Cuddle Cot is a special cooling bassinet that allows parents who have lost a baby to spend more time with their little one before they have to say goodbye. The hospital where they delivered Carson had a Cuddle Cot, which gave them another 48 hours with their son.

Kiana says, “We were able to take pictures, give him a bath, dress him, rock him, read to him and hold him as much as we could.  Our parents were able to come meet and say goodbye to their grandson.

Kiana and Jason PanickKiana said the couple felt blessed to have been able to use the Cuddle Cot. When they learned that PeaceHealth Southwest’s Family Birth Center did not have one, they decided to gift one in Carson’s honor.

The Panick’s donation of a new Cuddle Cot to PeaceHealth Southwest means other parents suffering a loss will get the same gift of time with their babies.
