Pediatric cardiologist Misty Carlson, MD, joined the comprehensive pediatric program at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in 2014. Dr. Carlson completed her fellowship training at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in 2009 and served on the pediatric cardiology faculty at OHSU prior to joining PeaceHealth. Her goal is to improve access to pediatric cardiology services so that families can receive answers about their child's heart condition quickly and close to home. "Hearing your child may have a heart condition is frightening for any parent. I want all of my patients and their families to feel that they have received high-quality and comprehensive care in their community and that it was provided in a caring and family-centered environment." Dr. Carlson’s clinical interests include a full range of pediatric cardiology conditions including fetal echocardiography, exercise physiology and testing, and management of high cholesterol and high blood pressure with lifestyle changes. Dr. Carlson is board certified in Lifestyle Medicine and is a certified health coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. She also received a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition through Cornell University. Raised in Eugene, she enjoys running, hiking, cooking, spending time with her husband and two children, and cheering for the Oregon Ducks.
