Heidi Kjos, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician. She is a strong advocate for prevention and patient education. Dr. Kjos earned her medical degree from University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, followed by her family medicine residency at Mayo Clinic in La Crosse, Wisconsin. "I try to empower my patients by providing the latest medical information so they can take an active role in their health care," she says. Taking pride in being a good listener, Dr. Kjos enjoys getting to know her patients and their family members, and helping patients discover the best options of care for their individual situations. "I also encourage regular exercise.” Dr. Kjos previously served as a physician for space shuttle astronauts and fighter pilots as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force. Motivated by her experience as a pilot, Dr. Kjos has received special training to perform Federal Aviation Administration physicals.
