Collin Fischer, MD, is a cardiologist at the PeaceHealth Cardiology Clinic in Bellingham. He previously practiced cardiology and was department chair at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana.Dr. Fischer earned his medical degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California. He completed an internal medicine residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.He spent much of his early medical career in the Army, serving in Italy and Afghanistan, among other places.Dr. Fischer’s professional interests include prevention, cardiac imaging and the acute and longitudinal care of heart failure. He is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, cardiovascular computed tomography, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography.“One of the central tenets at my medical school was patient-centered, ‘whole person care,’ and I am a big adherent to that concept,” he says. “When I see someone with a heart concern, it is essential to integrate that person’s physical, social and spiritual needs along with their preferences and personal values into their treatment. I also know that forming a trusting partnership with a patient is incredibly important. It’s my job to integrate cutting-edge medical knowledge with their specific situation to help them to make the best choices and find the right treatments for themselves.”Outside of work, Dr. Fischer enjoys skiing, mountain biking, foreign travel and spending time with his family.
